The Lavender Farm Blog

Best Wishes

Choppie Kotze - Monday, November 28, 2011
Contrary to what you may think, we are capable of writing a blog for our regular readers. We do apologise for neglecting our duties writing the blog.

Many things have happened in the year that has gone by. The one important thing that happened was the birth of our fourth child, a baby girl, on the 16th March 2011. She crawls and lifts herself up against the furniture. It is a pleasure to have her as part of our family of angels.

The lavender blooming season is over and we are busy pruning the plants and distilling for lavender oils. The lavender was at its best this year in comparison to previous years.

During this season we had a French university student (Romain) on the farm for 8 weeks. Romain helped with valuable hints and tips to improve our production of plants and oils. We were also able to teach him a few things about lavender farming in South Africa. Romain learned a lot about our culture during his stay on the farm.

We are busy with marketing our plants and products at various markets, such as the Bonnyvale Christmas Market being held at the Bonnyvale Wine Cellars and the Berry Festival in Swellendam.

Preparations for our December holiday are also underway. This year we will be joined by my two sisters from Gauteng and their families. We are very excited and counting the days to the 16th December.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our clients and friends a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
